The Austin Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a person who hit a bicyclist and then left the scene.

In a press release, APD says that on August 1st at around 1 p.m. they responded to call of an auto versus bicycle crash near Airport Blvd and East 12th Street.

Police say a juvenile male was riding his bike eastbound in the crosswalk and had a white crossing light which gave him the right of way.

Police say a maroon Chevrolet Lumina was traveling westbound on East 12th Street and turned southbound onto Airport Blvd and struck the bicyclist, knocking him off his bike. The driver initially stopped and exited his car but then left the scene.

Police say the driver of the Chevrolet Lumina is described as a Hispanic male, around 30-years-old with a heavy build and a silver nose-ring piercing.

The first three letters of the car's license plate are CSX.

The victim was not seriously hurt.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed this crash is asked to call APD's Leaving the Scene Unit at 512-974-6935.
