Social networking meets exercising

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

It's the latest way for people to work out without ever stepping foot in a gym.

It’s a virtual approach to group fitness classes. The Peleton Bike gives users the option to be at home and sit in on a spinning class that an instructor is teaching live from inside of a studio.

On top of that, users can even video chat with friends from around the world while taking the same class with them. They can also compete with others virtually, as well as replay an old class and compete with their previous times and speeds.

The best thing the creators say is the flexibility it brings to your schedule.

“Somebody who wants to wake up at 4, 5 or 6 in the morning, get their workout in before they go off to work and then perhaps go to the gym of their choice. Or somebody who gets home late at night who wants to work out at that point and time. the ability with this bike is we have on-demand classes, live classes. We have 8 or 9 classes throughout the day with different instructors that the person can pick from,” said Larry Silver.

Eventually, Third Degree Fitness plans to have live classes streaming 24 hours a day.

People can order these bikes online for about $2k. The company is hoping to open a spinning studio in Chicago by the end of the year.

The classes are even in several different languages including English, Spanish and Mandarin.
