Caught on cam: Truck nearly wipes out Dallas deputy

Posted: Updated:
Dallas County, TX-(KDFW) Dashcam video shows some scary moments recently as a Dallas sheriff’s deputy managed to avoid a truck that came within inches of hitting him.

Deputy Christopher Loboda, a six-year veteran, made a traffic stop on the morning of July 10 on the 635 Coit exit service road in Dallas County.

The screeching sound of tires caught his attention, and seconds later, the driver of a white pickup trip skidded within inches of hitting him.

"My thought was, ‘Think small, be small!’” said Loboda. “The only thing I could think was [to] suck it all in and not get hit."

Loboda says the driver was going highway speeds – at least 60 miles per hour.

"He did leave, I would say, over 120 feet of skid marks,” said Loboda.

The driver stopped and walked back to Loboda, but the deputy was so mad and startled that he just told the driver to turn back around.

"The best thing for him, going through my mind, was just to get him back in his car and drive away,” said Loboda. “I was pretty upset at the whole situation, and I knew the best thing to do was to get him back moving."

The assignment was his second day on HOV patrol along 635, and almost his last.

"I was just glad he didn't hit me!” said Loboda. “It was just a relief. The adrenaline dump happened instant.”
