PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Bryan Hulsey showed no reaction as the jury's verdict was read in court Monday afternoon.

"On our oaths, we find the defendant as to count one, first-degree murder as follows; guilty," said a court representative.

The jury found Hulsey guilty of first-degree murder for shooting and killing 24-year-old Glendale Police Officer Anthony Holly during a traffic stop in 2007.

He was also found guilty of one count of attempted murder of another Glendale officer during the traffic stop.

"The verdict is good, very good, it was something that we all were hoping for," said Jan Blaser-Upchurch with the group, Concerns of Police Survivors.

Officer Holly's family did not comment after the verdict was read. Blaser-Upchurch with COPS spoke on their behalf.

"This is a difficult time for the family, it reminds them again of their fallen officer, Anthony Holly, their son, their brother, their friend, and that person is gone forever," she said.

The courtroom was filled with Holly's fellow police officers officers  there to support Holly's family. Shortly after the verdict was read  members of Hulsey's family could be heard criticizing the jury's decision.

"It's disturbing, it's always difficult for the family members when you see the defendant's family reacting in such a negative way," said Blaser-Upchurch.

The Glendale Police Department Chief sent a tweet after the verdict saying; "Justice! Halsey guilty of murder of Glendale Officer Tony Holly and attempted murder of Officer Goitia #neverforget."

The trial now moves into the sentencing phase. Hulsey could face the death penalty.
