CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A 16-year-old boy was killed and six others were wounded in shootings across the city Wednesday.

The teen died after a bullet went through a first-floor window about 9:25 p.m. in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The 16-year-old was in a bedroom at a home in the 6700 block of South Artesian Avenue when a bullet went through a window and struck him in the neck, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.

A police source said the teen was gang affiliated.

About 25 minutes earlier, two teens and a man were critically injured in a Fuller Park neighborhood shooting on the South Side.

All three were shot about 9 p.m. in the 4200 block of South Princeton Avenue when a male exited an SUV nearby and opened fire, police said.

One man, 21, suffered a gunshot wound to the foot and left thigh. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said. A 16-year-old boy was shot in the right armpit and was also taken to Stroger, police said. The other boy was shot in the abdomen and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital.

A man was shot just before noon in the Greater Grand crossing neighborhood on the South Side.

The 22-year-old man was shot in the hand while in the 100 block of West Marquette Road, police said. He was taken in good condition to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center.

Several hours earlier, a teen girl was shot on the Lower West Side.

The 17-year-old was in a car with her boyfriend and several other people in the 1000 block of West Cullerton Street about 1:45 a.m., when someone walked up and fired shots, striking her in the head, police said. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in “stable” condition.

A half hour earlier, a man was shot during a robbery in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side.

The man, 25, was in the 6200 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue about 1:15 a.m. when someone approached on foot, showed a handgun and announced a robbery, police said. The man handed over an unspecified amount of cash, at which point the robber shot him in the foot and ran away, police said.

The victim called a relative, who drove him to Roseland Community Hospital. He was later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in “stable” condition.
