A 64-year-old woman killed when a tire struck the windshield of her car on the Bishop Ford Freeway on the Far South Side early Wednesday morning has been identified as a northwest Indiana resident.
A green, 1997 Chevrolet Blazer was southbound on I-94 near 130th Street when its tire came off about 6:10 a.m., according to Illinois State Police.
The tire bounced into the northbound lanes and struck a white 2011 Nissan Versa, state police said.

Mariana Blanco, 48, of Hammond, Ind., the driver of the Chevrolet, was not injured, but was charged with no valid insurance, no valid registration and use of unsafe tires, state police said.
All northbound lanes were reopened about 9:15 a.m., according to state police.
