SAN ANTONIO (AP) - San Antonio police are testing the use of wearable cameras but have yet to release policies for the pilot program.
The San Antonio Express-News reports (http://bit.ly/1nuSmFZ ) that the police department in March launched the six-month program with 150 cameras. It will review the program later this year to determine if it will continue.
The city says it will not release the program policies because they are in draft form. Chief William McManus has updated the council on how they are used.
McManus says officers will determine when to start and stop recording. He says citizens will not be notified when they are being recorded.
Officials say the technology will defend both residents and officers by presenting an unbiased picture of events.
