Boil water notice lifter near Pflugerville wastewater spill site
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has lifted a boil water order in Pflugerville. More than a million gallons of wastewater spilled from a treatment facility earlier this week.
The TCEQ says oxygen levels and aquatic life are back to normal in Gilleland Creek. The city was working to finish cleanup from the spill through the end of the day Tuesday.
Officials believe a power surge may have led to the flow of untreated wastewater from a manhole. They also say the effect on the creek is not as big as originally thought, because much of the wastewater was contained in a dry pond near the manhole.
