Delle Donne out indefinitely with Lyme disease

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (Associated Press) - Chicago Sky forward Elena Delle Donne is sidelined indefinitely because of a recurrence of Lyme disease.

The team announced Friday before the game against the New York Liberty that Delle Donne had returned home to Delaware. The reigning rookie of the year missed five games this month before playing against Connecticut on Wednesday. She scored 13 points in the loss, but said she wasn't feeling well after the game.

The 6-foot-5 star is averaging 21.2 points this season.

Chicago (6-8) was finally getting healthy with the return of center Sylvia Fowles after offseason hip surgery before Delle Donne's latest bout with the bacterial disease.

She was sidelined by it in college at Delaware, missing time on three separate occasions.
