Shelter for immigrant kids receives flu vaccine to prevent outbreak
To prevent a flu outbreak, the state health department has sent 2,000 doses of flu vaccine to a shelter that's holding immigrant children here in Texas.
FOX 7 has confirmed the medication was sent last week.
A child at the shelter located on Lackland Air Force Base was diagnosed with the H1N1 flu virus. About a thousand children are currently living there after being caught trying to cross the border without a parent.
Federal officials say they will reimburse Texas for the 2,000 doses of flu vaccine that were sent.
