NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - "I know I’m a strange spokesperson for this," said Oscar winner Susan Sarandon about her effort to get the word out about testicular cancer through ping pong.

The table tennis enthusiast and co-owner of pinpong club SPiN New York says the stores will donate a dollar to testicular cancer research and awareness every time a customer requests the special at the desk.

"We're painting all of our balls blue. If you take a picture with any kind of blue ball and put #spinblueballs we’ll donate a dollar," added Sarandon.

It's the first charitable outreach for the pingpong club.

"Every hour of every day a man is diagnosed with testicular cancer," said the icon and grandma-to-be.

Her daughter is expecting a child in August.

Also, this summer the star of classics including 'Thelma and Louse'; 'Dead Man Walking' and the 'Rocky Horror Picture Show,' returns to the big screen in 'Tammy.'

"I’m a grandma. I’m Melissa McCarthy’s mother. I drink a lot and take a lot of pills and get in trouble," said Sarandon.

'Tammy' opens July 2.
