Georgia State Parks Urging People To "Get Outdoors!" With Special Event

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA, Ga. -

School's out for summer, and it's time to soak up some sun. So how about a place where paddleboarding, tree-climbing, archery and more can keep the family busy?

Sweetwater Creek State Park is holding a free "Get Outdoors Day" even on June 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event provides a "sampler" of activities available at Georgia State Parks, including canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. The timing is perfect, since June is "National Get Outdoors Month" -- and state parks staffers hope the events they have planned will spur exploration of everything Sweetwater Creek and other parks have to offer.

Good Day Atlanta's Paul Milliken heard something about "aquacycling" -- and decided he needed to a little preview of "Get Outdoors Day." He spent the morning at Sweetwater Creek State Park with some friends -- click on the videos above to check it out!
