Chamblee police are searching for a hit and run driver who injured a mother and her daughter Monday.
The child, 9, was riding her bike on the sidewalk along busy Chamblee Dunwoody Road when the driver of a black Ford Explorer lost control and struck the girl.
The little girl was badly hurt and remains hospitalized.
The girl’s mother, Alma Delia Patino, 26, was also injured in the accident.
A tip led Chamblee police to the hit and run vehicle abandoned about a half mile away in the parking lot of the Cumberland Court apartments.
Two beer bottles were visible inside the vehicle, leading investigators to speculate the driver may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Patino and her daughter were transported to local hospitals. Miraculously the girl’s two-year-old sister escaped unharmed.
