Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt

'Edge of Tomorrow' review

MYFOXNY.COM -

The setting of "Edge of Tomorrow" is a futuristic war-torn earth where lightning-fast aliens are winning the fight. Tom Cruise plays a desk-bound military officer suddenly thrust onto the front lines.

His character, Cage, is killed instantly. A high-stakes version of "Groundhog Day" inexplicably unfolds. Every time he dies the day starts all over again.

Emily Blunt plays the lethal force of nature that coaches Cruise's unlikely hero to victory. But first she teaches him how to master that massive robotic armor, the exosuit.

The "time loop" setup may inevitably feel repetitive to some theater-goers, but a slew perfectly timed laugh-out-loud moments help break up the monotony. Cruise flawlessly reinvents the words on the page, making the dialogue feel fresh each time we hear it.

As much as this is a showcase for Cruise's bankable talent, "Edge of Tomorrow" is a major coming-out party for Blunt as an action hero. Off screen, Blunt is enjoying her new role as a mom alongside husband John Krasinski.

Step through the doors of Hope's Land of Candy in Island Park, Long Island and you''ll be taking a trip back in time. There's no WIFI but they do have a Victrola piano. And then there's the candy.. lots and lots of it.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
