Downtown Austin has turned into a stage for the X Games. It's a preview of what will be at COTA this weekend.
The demo stage set up in front of the Capitol is all part of Thursday's kickoff event. In the meantime, it may be a frustration for drivers.
X marks the spot; that spot just so happens to be in the heart of downtown Austin.
"Well heading to my next appointment today I did notice there was an awful lot of construction," said Steve Koebele, works downtown.
Some of the best athletes will take the stage. The main highlight being skateboarder, Tony Hawk. That also means several streets will be closed.

From Tuesday to noon on Friday you won't be able to access:
Although it can be frustrating, people we spoke with say they like the change of scenery.
"The reason why Texas is seeing a lot of growth is because of the economy but why Austin in particular? I think it's because of the culture and liveliness of the city and it's open to these types of events," said Hunker.
Officers will be out directing traffic; especially knowing that this is free to the public and will attract hundreds of people.
"Because there's an event like this here, it makes Austin that much more exciting," says Kiana Rocha, visiting.
Keep in mind, you will be ticketed if you enter any of the closed off areas.
Capital Metro says all of their bus routes on Congress Avenue have been switched to other locations. For more information: https://www.capmetro.org/xGames/
