A Texas nonprofit has unveiled its rankings of every public school and school district in Central Texas and it appears more suburban schools are at the top of the list.
Children at Risk looked at performance and achievement when assigning a letter grade for schools.
Districts like Dripping Springs, Wimberley, and Eanes ISD were the Highest ranked on the list. While Texas Preparatory school and Canyon Vista Middle School in the Round Rock school district took tops in Elementary and Middle schools respectively. An Austin ISD school did take the top school on the High School list.
Children at Risk says the goal is to get parents more involved in their child’s education by knowing this important information.
"We're looking to see who are the very best schools, who are the schools that don't sort of make the grade, and the idea being that we want parents to be very involved in the education of their kids, making sure that they either get involved in the school to make it better, or they change schools," President of Children at Risk, Dr. Bob Samborn said.
