Some theatre students at an Austin high school used some smart marketing to make sure their final show of the school year was a sell-out. McCallum High School's Theatre Department teamed up with a local web marketing company, Motiliti, to spread the word about their show, "The 39 Steps". Students were able to create a website for buying tickets, as well as create e-mail campaigns to fill the 350 seats at the school theater.
Motiliti co-founder Joe Schaefer says, "It was a new theater, a larger theater, and they hadn't sold it out until we used a combination of e-mail marketing, and we took the kids and put them on a green screen in our studio."
Now it's not clear if the students had a sell-out crowd this weekend, but based on past shows using this technology, it's likely that did happen.
