Men arrested for using E-cigarette to smoke meth

Posted: Updated:
SENOIA, Ga. - Electronic cigarettes, or E-cigarettes, have become a popular alternative for many tobacco smokers. Many smokers have found the E-cigarettes beneficial in helping them quit or cut down on their tobacco use.

Law Enforcement officers are investigating an alarming new trend of people using the E-cigarettes to consume illegal street drugs such as Methamphetamine,

Senoia police officers said they stopped a red sedan last week that was wanted in a stolen gun investigation. Police said they took no chances and arrested Tony Norris and Keith Furlong, the two men driving the vehicle.

Police said that a stolen gun did not cause the men’s arrest, but instead what they were allegedly smoking inside their E-cigarette.

Police said they administered a roadside test which identified the substance inside the E-cigarette as Methamphetamine. Deputies said they had heard of an E-cigarette form of meth, but until now had never seen it.

Furlong and Norris were taken into custody and charged with possession of meth. It is not known whether Norris and Furlong were smoking meth in E-cigarettes while driving, but because the odor is not detectable the officers could not have smelled it.
