A young boy is saved after being attacked by a ferocious dog. It was his cat that came to the rescue.
It's amazing surveillance video that went viral, now with more than 2 million views.
The incident happened Tuesday in Bakersfield, California.
Surveillance video shows 4-year-old Jeremy Triantafilo riding his bike in front of his home. Then you see the neighbor's dog come from behind and attack, dragging the boy. That's when the family cat, Tara, jumps to the rescue. The Labrador-chow mix is seen running off while the cat continues to chase him away.
After it's all over, Jeremy's parents say they're happy it wasn't worse. They're still in shock that it's their family pet they have to thank.
"You can see her protect him. She comes up, she comes back to him and you know it was pretty amazing to see how she had that motherly instinct in her for Jeremy, at least that's what I think it was," says Roger Triantafilo, father.
"I remember her hitting the dog but seeing the video and seeing exactly what she did and chase that dog away. Seeing her turn to check on Jeremy and then returning to him, she is my hero," says Erika Triantafilo, mother.
Jeremy's bite was pretty deep, there were two gauges on his leg that required stitches but he is doing fine.
The dog will be quarantined for ten days and eventually put to sleep.
