Man Abandoned In McDonald’s Searches For Birth Mother

Posted: Updated:

Kent County, Pa.- The baby who was abandoned in a McDonald’s many years ago is hopeful that he’ll meet his mother someday.

“I was born December 20th, 1977. I was found abandoned in a McDonald's in Newark, New Jersey," David Volk said.

Hours old with his umbilical cord still attached, David Volk, was found in the fast food restaurant's sink.

36 years later, he's looking for the woman who may have left him there.

“I would just like to try to find my mother and see what happened,” he said. “I believe she abandoned me because she probably didn't have the means to support me.”

David was adopted into a loving home in Plainfield Township.

He says he never tried to look for his birth mother before.

“I just never thought there was any hope, no records,” Volk said.

That was until he saw Katheryn Deprill’s story.

She was abandoned at birth at an Allentown Burger King.

Deprill started a social media campaign in March to look for her birth mother, and it worked.

"I basically cried for her when I saw she found her mom in three weeks. That's why as of April 2, I started my campaign,” Volk explained.

Inspired, he started his own Facebook page.

He's gotten a lot of support, but no leads.

David showed Fox 29 his adoption papers, which are the only clues into his past.

Aside from his mother, he says there's one other person who may have the information he's looking for.

“I would also like to see of the McDonald’s manager that did find me at birth can come forward too, so I can meet her and say thank you,” he said.

As for his birth mother, Volk says he already has a place in his heart for her where ever she may be.

“Would definitely like to meet her get to know her. Just in my heart you know hopefully, I can find her,” Volk said.
