DALLAS (AP) - A strong storm system has deluged North Texas with up to 3 inches of rain, triggered flash-flood warnings and prompted a high-water rescue of five children.
Dallas police say emergency workers rescued the children after they became trapped Thursday morning by rising waters along a creek. All five were taken to a hospital for evaluation. Authorities believe they were playing in a drainage tunnel when rainwater overwhelmed them.
Severe weather could also hit the northern Plains, with parts of South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa under a tornado watch this evening.
The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says large hail and isolated tornadoes are possible.
