Man Who Went To Prison 13-Years Late Released

Posted: Updated:
Charleston, MO-A convicted robber who was never sent to prison until a clerical mistake was discovered last year is now free.

Cornealious "Mike" Anderson walked out of a Missouri courthouse on Monday as a free man.

In 2000, Anderson was sentenced to 13-years in prison for his role in a robbery.

However, due to some clerical errors, Anderson never made it behind bars.

Since his conviction, the 37-year-old started his own business, married and had children.

Most importantly, he stayed away from trouble.

Fast-forward the clock 13 years, the Missouri Department of Correction realized Anderson was never jailed.

And in July 2013, he was taken away in handcuffs.

On Monday, a judge heard arguments from both sides, and ruled Anderson should be freed.

"He is awesome. Awesome. He's an awesome father," said his wife, Laqonna Anderson.

Anderson has been released without any parole restrictions.

“He’s gonna have the best night's sleep he's ever had in his own bed. Tomorrow he's going to wake up and taste freedom,” said Anderson’s attorney Patrick Megaro.
