APD seeks witness to suspicious death

Posted: Updated:

Austin police need help tracking down a possible witness to a suspicious death early this year.

In the early morning hours of February 22, police were called out to the Solaris Apartments on Royal Crest Drive in Southeast Austin. That's where they found the victim 47-year-old Cynthia Castillo.

Police say she had head injuries and was transported to a local hospital where she later died. But it's unclear what exactly happened to her.

Police are trying to track down a possible witness. They say 30-year-old Franklin Guardado may have been present the night of Castillo's death.

He’s described as a Hispanic male and may be driving an older-model black Honda.

“We're not talking accident, we're not talking homicide. We're just kind of stuck in the middle. So, in order to further the investigation, we definitely need to try to find him, to interview him to hopefully give us some information about his…what he saw that night," said APD Sgt. Brian Miller.

Anyone with any information on Guardado's whereabouts is asked to call APD.
