It's been six months since flood waters ravaged the Onion Creek area in Southeast Austin, and today, city, county, and state officials met to announce plans for more recovery efforts.
The Travis Austin Recovery Group was behind today's meeting. Officials hope to tackle the needs of the victims of this local disaster, by listening to residents, and looking at what worked and what didn't.
U.S. Congressman Lloyd Doggett says, "This is not necessarily the last flood we will see, and that we face continued challenges. I believe, as I've tried to do throughout, is that the important thing is to listen to this neighborhood, and that the more the neighborhood can speak with one voice, based on this important survey, the better off we'll be."
The Austin city council recently discussed buying out more homes in the flood plain along Onion Creek.
