Police Warn Drivers After 2 Armed Carjackings In Camden

Posted: Updated:

Police in Camden County are asking drivers to be alert after two carjackings since this weekend along one city street.

Police say both carjackings were reported along Mount Ephraim Avenue.

One took place Sunday morning between 7 and 8 a.m. after a driver parked his car on the side of the road on the 2600 block of Mount Ephraim Avenue.

"Two black males, one brandishing a black handgun, approached the car and ordered the driver to exit the vehicle," police said.

The suspects then got into the silver, two-door 2000 Honda Accord, with a license plate of Y26-AYG, and drove away toward Ferry Avenue.

Then, shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday, a victim waved down a police officer and reported that she had just been carjacked.

"The victim was in her parked minivan with a male passenger near the corner of Mount Ephraim Avenue and Walnut Street when two black males, one brandishing a black handgun, entered the vehicle, assaulted the male and female, forced them out of the vehicle and then fled the scene in the minivan," police said.

The vehicle is described as a red, three-door 2000 Dodge Caravan, with a license plate of U38-EBF.

Anyone with information about either of these crimes or the location of the vehicles is asked to call the Camden County Police Department tip line at 856-757-7042.
