A Hays County Deputy is now monitoring security 24 hours a day because employees are worried about their safety.
The local founder of Carabbas Italian Grill can now add criminal mischief, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary to his resume.
Damian Mandola, 61, was arrested twice in one week by Hays County Sheriff's deputies. On April 3rd, incident reports show two employees at the Duchman Family Winery locked themselves inside an office because of a suspected break in.
After breaking through this set of double doors, Mandola had to get through a second set to get into the wine tasting room where he admits he took a bottle of wine which retails for a whopping $18.
Investigators found the bottle of red wine in a cup holder of Mandola's golf cart at the scene.
After posting a $5,000 bond, Damian was arrested again just two days later. A picture, provided by a source close to the investigation, shows a hammer in Mandola's hand.
Arrest reports state a winery employee saw Mandola break his truck window with a hammer and yell, "I'll kill you" when he tried to take Mandola's picture as evidence. It also states the employee's four tires were slashed.
Damian posted a $15,000 bond after being charged with criminal mischief and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The employees at the Duchman Family Winery tell us they did not feel safe talking on camera, but hope the increased security will allow them to get back to business as usual.
Investigators say felt there was no need to check Mandola's blood alcohol content because all of the incidents happened on private property.
We're still waiting for a response from Mandola.
