Killeen man at center of an end-of-life battle has died

Posted: Updated:

A Killeen man at the center of an end-of-life court battle in Williamson County has died.

Terry Mace died at around 1:00 a.m. at Seton Medical Center in Round Rock Tuesday morning, according to family attorney Stephen Casey.

Last month, 43-year-old Mace fell and sustained a head injury at his home in Killeen after suffering a heart attack. He soon became the focus of a courtroom fight between his estranged wife, who requested he be removed from life support, and his parents.

Mace's father won guardianship last week. He was optimistic about his son's recovery after Mace reportedly opened his eyes.

Mace was a defense contractor in Killeen. An official cause of death has not yet been made public.
