If you could ask for any favor, what would it be?
A new app available in Central Austin was designed to make it happen.
Imagine having someone help you out during a busy day, giving them five bucks, plus a tip, to deliver any favor.
"Hi, I'd like to place an order for carry-out," says Will Strecker, Favor runner.
"We went to the grocery store one day and we were saying, wouldn't it be awesome if I could just ask one of my friends to pick up some food for me," says Ben Doherty, co-founder, Favor app.
That's how the idea sparked.
Favor was created to make life a little bit easier for those on the run.
To the founders from New Hampshire, the perfect city to have it launched was right here in Austin.
They hoped they could provide another delivery option for residents.
"Torchy's Tacos is the first major merchant that we've signed. We're going to be the official delivery service for Torchy's Tacos, but we are also looking forward to partnering with other merchants in Austin," says Zac Maurais, co-founder, Favor app.
If you need groceries or dry cleaning picked up, they will do it.
If you want clothes or a new pair of shoes but you don't have time to go shopping, they will do the shopping for you.
They will also deliver food from many of your favorite restaurants around town.
Since June of last year, we're told Favor has become one of the most downloaded apps in the area.
At first just serving near the UT campus but now also in Tarrytown.
"Now that we kind of have it working and know it's really working well, we really want to take this to new cities and hopefully worldwide someday," says Doherty.
It's free for iPhone and Android users.
Once you ask the favor, the average wait time is a little over 30 minutes but it all depends on what you ask for.
You can ask for a favor Sunday through Wednesday from 8 am to midnight and Thursday through Saturday until 2 am.
If you order something under $50, the delivery fee is five dollars, plus tip.
The fee goes up a little bit depending on how much you spend.
