Reports on various sports sites source a letter posted on a Twitter account about a letter that may have been sent to a teacher from a student. True or not true -- it's a great letter written to get out of class and go to the Detroit Tigers Opening Day game.  With Tigers' ace Justin Verlander on the mound the excuse gets an 'A' for effort if nothing else.

DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) - The forecast is great for Monday's Opening Day at Comerica Park -- but, will the team have a winning season? A group fans gathered Sunday to pray for the Tigers.

Fans are hoping for some divine intervention when the team takes on the Kansas City Royals. Fox 2 was there for the service at St. John's Episcopal Church in Detroit. Parishioners took part in the 14th annual service just hours before the home opener. Church goers sang "Take Me Out to the Ball game" and they're feeling optimistic about the upcoming season.
