778 women who turned out at the Willow Run Bomber Plant stood up for the United States during World War II. They were some of Michigan's Rosie the Riveters, women who worked in converted auto plants to help build and inspect bombers and airplanes for the arsenal of Democracy. Typical pay was just $.58 an hour. We spoke to several women about the important roles they played in the 1940's.

There were two big reasons for the gathering in Ypsilanti. The women were hoping to establish a Guinness world record, they needed 250 to set a record and they actually drew 778. Guinness will review the report on the turnout and decide whether to establish the record. Until now, there has never been a Rosie attendance record of any kind. The other huge reason for the get together? To save the planes and artifacts from Will Run's Bomber Plant. With awareness and fundraisers, the goal of the Rosies is to somehow raise $1.5 million  to preserve the planes for generations at the Yankee Air Museum.
