PHOENIX (AP) - A federal judge presiding over a racial profiling case against the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has ordered the agency's deputy chief to attend Thursday's status conference.

U.S. District Judge Murray Snow says Deputy Chief David Trombi made errors in his statements to Phoenix community members at a March 15 meeting.

Snow wrote in his order Friday that the court may ask Trombi some questions under oath pertaining to the meeting.

The sheriff's office already has given the court a video recording of that meeting, as requested by Snow.

Ten months ago, Snow concluded Sheriff Joe Arpaio's office systematically racially profiled Latinos in its immigration and regular traffic patrols and unreasonably prolonged the detentions of people during traffic stops.

Arpaio has vigorously denied the racial profiling allegations and appealed the ruling.
