Texas Turnaround: Lady Horns Blow Out Penn After Early Deficit
The Texas Women's Basketball team turned a 15-point first half deficit into an 18-point win in their first round NCAA Tournament game in College Park MD, beating Penn 79-61.
It was the first NCAA Tournament win since 2008 for the 5th-seed Horns. They will play 4-seed and home standing Maryland in the tournament's 2nd round on Tuesday at 6PM.
The Quakers had no answer for Texas center Imani McGee-Stafford, who had 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting and 11 rebounds. Empress Davenport was the only other Texas player to score in double figures with 10 points. The Lady Horns (22-11) were a perfect 18-for-18 from the free throw line. They also short 52 percent from the field.
