CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man was killed in a shooting Friday afternoon in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Terrell Wilson, 21, was found dead on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds in the 4000 block of West Van Buren Street after police responded to a call of shots fired shortly before 1 p.m., authorities said.

He was fighting with somebody when multiple other people exited a nearby vehicle and began to chase him on foot, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said, citing preliminary information. At least one of the people produced a gun and opened fire.

Wilson, of the 1100 block of South Throop Street, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

Area North detectives are investigating.
