PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

A suspect led local police officers on a dangerous high-speed chase for miles across Phoenix.

It all came to an end when the suspect crashed into a woman who was on her way home.

This all started around 5 p.m. this afternoon when drivers on Interstate 17 near Table Mesa Road called in a reckless driver.

DPS officers caught up with the suspect in Phoenix, but he didn't stop for them. Instead he led them on a chase where he allegedly ran red lights, traveled in the wrong lanes of traffic, and finally crashed into another car.

The pursuit finally ended at 51st Avenue & Cactus when the green blazer crashed into a white SUV. Police say the driver, Rodolfo Nunez, exited the vehicle and began running from officers.

Nunez was caught nearby when a plainclothes police officer tackled him.

The father of the woman who was hit at the intersection rushed to the scene after his daughter called and said she and her 7 year-old son were involved in the accident.

"She was kinda sketchy about it, she said she had been in an accident but couldn't go into a whole lot of detail at the time," said Jim Morrison, the victim's dad.

DPS Officer Carrick Cook explained the numerous charges the suspect will face.

"He is in custody is going to be facing multiple charges such as felony flight, wrekcless driving, fleeing the scene of an injury crash, aggravated assault and we're going to do some looking into some other potential crimes that might have been committed prior to the traffic stop," said Cook.

"I hope they put him away for a long time, I mean my grandson got hurt and my daughter could have been seriously hurt. They need to do something with these guys," said Morrison.

The woman and her son were taken to hospital for treatment, both are expected to be okay.
