SKOKIE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A gunshot was fired outside a north suburban McDonald's and a man was hit by a vehicle during a dispute early Sunday, Pioneer Press is reporting.

Skokie Police said two men, who were standing next to their vehicle at 4:50 a.m. at the McDonald's at 5360 Touhy Ave, got into a verbal dispute with a man sitting inside a different vehicle.

According to police, the suspect pulled out a gun and fired a shot into the air during the argument. He then got out of his vehicle and approached the victims with the gun in hand, police said.

The victims jumped into their vehicle and backed up, striking the suspect, and then drove to the Skokie Police Department to report the incident, police said.

Chicago Police later reported that a man had been hit by a vehicle at the Skokie McDonald's and was admitted to the Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago later that morning.

The suspect was described as white, 18 to 22 years old and wearing a hooded sweatshirt that covered his face. The case remains under investigation by Skokie Police.
