CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A warning for downtown Chicago pedestrians - make sure to look up and down when walking around the Loop. Falling ice can cause real pain and damage.

These caution signs are part of the landscape in the Loop, positioned at the foot of many high-rise buildings. Regular commuters say the signs do make them more aware.

But people often don't know what to make of them. Most people seem to disregard them. Experts say you can't predict where the ice will fall. At least one man was hurt on Wednesday, when a large chuck of ice fell on him.

Dan Curry, a campaign spokesman for U.S. Senate Republican Primary candidate Doug Truax, was hit by falling ice near the corner of Washington and Wells.

"A couple of pieces of ice started falling and one hit me right on the top of the head," Curry told FOX 32 Political Editor Mike Flannery. "I staggered to the ground. I looked at my hand and there was blood all over the place and blood on the sidewalk."

Several people helped him lie down and ended to his injury until an ambulance came. Curry was treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He was treated and released.

Curry said he owes a special thanks to all the Good Samaritans who helped him out. But Twitter united him with one very special Good Samaritan on Wednesday. Local periodontist Nadine Brodala stopped the bleeding when the incident took place on Wednesday. Curry called her his hero.

Nadine Brodala (@therealdinchen) 6:18 p.m. March 12: "@dancurry I certainly see blood during my work. But this was quite the wound. You should have seen my wool gloves afterwards..."

Nadine Brodala (@therealdinchen) 6:18 p.m. March 12: "@dancurry I am so glad that I could help you. Not a hero"

Dan Curry (@dancurry) 7:19 p.m. March 12: ".@therealdinchen Anyone who needs a dentist I strongly recommend Nadine Brodala. She's the kind of person who helps a person in need."

Curry plans to buy her another pair. After all, it's still cold. Be careful out there, Chicago!
