CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are asking the public's help in locating an elderly man suffering from dementia missing from the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side.

Edward McDonald, 87, was last seen about 8 p.m. Wednesday in the 7200 block of North Sheridan Road, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

McDonald suffers from moderate dementia, pulmonary embolism and hypertension, police said.

He is described as a 5-foot-8 white man, weighing 131 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes and a light complexion. He was last seen wearing a black fleece jacket, and khaki pants, police said.

McDonald was on foot and did not have any money, police said. He may have wanted to go to the 4700 block of North Hermitage Avenue and could have boarded a southbound CTA Red Line train from the Loyola station.

Anyone with information on McDonald's whereabouts is asked to contact the Area North Special Victims Unit at (312) 744-8200.
