BARRINGTON, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A state investigation has determined that the parents of a 7-month-old baby, who was found dead in her northwest suburban home, neglected the infant and her sister, Pioneer Press is reporting.

"They have been indicated for neglect," said Veronica Resa, spokeswoman for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

Mya G. Edwards was found dead on Jan. 8 on the 100 block of South Hager Avenue.

"They are very young parents, so hopefully this was an accident," Resa said.

Resa told the Sun-Times in January that although DCFS had not had prior contact with the family, the agency did receive an "unfounded" neglect report in April 2013 and an abuse report from 2002 for other children that were in the home.

Resa said the baby had a twin sister who is now in foster care. The parents have visitation rights with that child, Resa said.

A Jan. 9 autopsy was inconclusive pending toxicology and medical test results, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said at the time.

Barrington police on Wednesday said the department has no further details at this time and would not comment on whether charges would be filed against the parents.

Barrington police and the Cook County Major Case Assistance Team are still investigating, police said.
