HUNTLEY, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A woman was airlifted to a hospital and a man was also injured in a crash Wednesday morning in northwest suburban Huntley.

A 2001 Peterbilt semi truck and a 2008 Ford Expedition collided at Route 47 and Kreutzer Road about 10:20 a.m., according to Huntley police.

The driver of the SUV, a 40-year-old woman from Marengo, was airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Her condition was not immediately available Wednesday afternoon, but police said she "suffered extensive injures."

The driver of the semi, a 44-year-old Texas man, was taken by ambulance to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, where he was expected to be treated and released, police said.

Police said both vehicles sustained "heavy damage."

The intersection remained closed as of 2:30 p.m., police said.
