Ulises Bella & Raul Pacheco Of Ozomatli: We're Fans Of Music

Posted: Updated:

Ulises Bella and Raul Pacheco from Ozomatli were with us. Their new album ‘Place In The Sun' is released today, and the first single is called ‘Brighter.'

Fun facts about Ozomatli (Source: Wikipedia)

1.) Ozomatli is a seven piece band playing primarily Latin, hip hop, and rock music, formed in 1995 in Los Angeles. They are known both for their vocal activist viewpoints and their wide array of musical styles - including salsa, jazz, funk, reggae, rap, and others.

2.) Ozomatli take their name from the Nahuatl word for the Aztec astrological symbol of the monkey, which is also a god of dance, fire, the new harvest, and music. In 1995, all the members met while attempting to form a workers union within Los Angeles. While they weren't able to win recognition, they were given an abandoned building for one month. The building turned into a cultural arts center and within it, Ozomatli was born.

Ozomatli will perform and sign CD's tonight at Amoeba Records in Hollywood, and on May 3rd they'll be at the Greek Theater.

Born and raised in Liverpool, signed by an inexperienced agent named Brian Epstein, hustled into the studio with a genius producer named George Martin...and out of that session came a hit song called "Do You Want To Know A Secret." Now here's the twist…we're not talking about The Beatles.
