NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The New York Knicks are bringing a development team to White Plains, N.Y. It will be the city's first pro sports team.

Part of the NBA's D-League (a kind of minor league, if you will), the team will play at the Westchester County Center. The Knicks will become the seventh NBA team to fully own and operate a D-League team, according to a press release.

"The New York area has a rich basketball history and we’re excited to give some of the game's best fans the opportunity to watch top NBA prospects up close and personal in an intimate, family-friendly and affordable environment," NBA D-League President Dan Reed said in a statement.

So what should this team be called? You can get involved and share your ideas. From now until March 24, go to nyknicksdleague.com to submit names. Later you'll be able to vote for the final team name based on popular nominations.

The new team will begin playing with the 2014-15 season.
