Sunday morning's SXSW fun began at the Paramount Theatre. The red carpet rolled out to welcome famous Austin-based director Richard Linklater for his new movie "Boyhood."
"Boyhood" star Ethan Hawke tells FOX 7 he's known Linklater for a long time and the movie is the result of years of dreaming.
"Ideas that he's been thinking and working about really come to fruition in this movie in a way that I don't think anybody's ever made a movie like this," Hawke said.
He's a "National Treasure" himself...Mr. Nicholas Cage...in town for a movie called "Joe."
"You know I made 'Joe' here in Austin so it's kind of...there's a kismet to it, a beauty to it that it's premiering in America at the Austin Film Festival so I'm happy to show my support," Cage said.
Cage's new movie is a bit of a departure for him...it's low-key, shot entirely in Austin and pretty dark in its subject matter.
"I've always kind of dabbled in the independent movies if you look carefully. I mean there's a 'Bad Lieutenant' or a 'Lord of War' or 'Wild at Heart' but this one's a special movie," Cage said.
Shrek, Austin Powers, Wayne Campbell, he's played many roles...but this time Mike Myers is playing 'director.'
He and buddy Tom Arnold walked the red carpet for Mike's new documentary about famous talent-agent Shep Gordon.
He met him on the set of the first "Wayne's World" movie. Gordon was Alice Cooper's manager at the time and he pushed Myers into using one of Cooper's newer songs in the movie.
"Then I thought...maybe I could hang out with this guy and then over the years we kept in touch and now he's a member of my family," Myers said.
Both Cage and Myers seemed to be having fun in the A-T-X.
"Well I love Austin. I mean I enjoyed my experience making 'Joe' here. It's a great place to bring your family and I'd like to do it again," Cage said.
"Very beautiful! Very beautiful...I've never been. I'm not going to get a chance to stay very long because my wife is expecting and I have to head back to New York City but very, very beautiful...very cool," Myers said.
