Family Donates Teddy Bears To Pediatric Ward

Posted: Updated:

An Omaha family honored one man's 12 year battle with cancer by donating teddy bears to a nearby hospital's pediatric ward.

The Nebraska medical center is a familiar place for the Ruehle family but Sunday was a special occasion.   Dozens of bears were unloaded for children at the med center.

Mike Ruehle, nicknamed bear, spent the last twelve-years getting treatment there he recently lost his fight with cancer. Instead of having flowers at the funeral, his family asked for donations of teddy bears so they could help others.

"Anyway that we can brighten someone else's day and let his memory live on is what we're after," says, Mike's wife, Kerry Ruehle.

The family hopes to donate teddy bears again next year.
