Neighbor keeps suspect from leaving scene of crash

Posted: Updated:

A fast-acting neighbor possibly stops a driver from running away after hitting a house in Southeast Austin.
Adrienne Estrada says she was inside her house on the 6800 block of Blanchwood around noon, when she heard a loud crashing sound.
That's when she ran outside to find a car slammed into her neighbor's house.
To her surprise, Estrada says the driver was trying to get away.
So she decided to take actions into her own hands.
"As the car slammed into the house, I ran across the street to make sure all the kids were safe. They were trying to switch seats and leave the scene and I told them if they left I would tie them up," says Adrienne Estrada, neighbor.
Once the driver figured out Estrada wasn't playing around, he decided to stay and wait for the police.
He was arrested but his charges are unknown at this time.
Luckily, none of the children inside the house were hurt.
