WAUKEGAN, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man charged with aggravated battery for allegedly shooting two other men Tuesday night in far north suburban Zion was ordered held on $250,000 bond Wednesday.

Kendall P. Martin, 24, shot two men a few minutes after 8 p.m. Tuesday in an apartment building in the 1700 block of Joppa Avenue, according to a statement from Zion police.

Police responding to multiple 911 calls found the victims, who were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Martin has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, police said.

Police said he was quickly taken into custody and a handgun was recovered "largely in part to citizen's being observant and calling the police department."

Martin, of Zion, was ordered held on $250,000 bond Wednesday at the Lake County Circuit Court in Waukegan. He is scheduled to next appear in court on March 20.
