All sorts of festivals come to Austin; Saturday's involved bacon and beer.
Eat Boston has been putting on the Bacon and Beer Festival for the past four years, they recently decided to branch out.
They approached local food magazine, Edible Austin, to host the event with the Capital Area Food Bank being selected to receive a portion of the proceeds.
31 Austin restaurants and nine breweries participated; serving up several dishes like maple bacon cheesecake, bacon bisquits and pork tacos at the Marchesa Hall and Theatre.
"These things are happening in Austin. There is this thriving food culture. If you want a certain part of a hog from a local butcher shop, you can go get that. It's local, it's sustainable, it's from our local economy," says Shannon Kintner, Edible Austin, marketing assistant.
Some of the restaurants included Bacon and Hoover's, Kerbey Lane Café and Frank.
There was also a pig butchery demonstration by Salt & Time Butcher Shop.
