Apps that let you never leave the house

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

These days, it's all about convenience. And there really is an app for everything. It's gotten to the point where you can order in everything from food to clothes to liquor. When the weather outside is frightful apps are so delightful!

Mark Spoonauer, a tech expert from Laptop magazine, told us via Skype we're turning to these apps first and going to the brick and mortar as plan B. He walked about some new delivery apps including Minibar, an app that delivers wine and spirits right to your door. All you have to do is enter your ZIP code, select what you want, and it will be there in under an hour.

"It also could be great for a gift," he said. "There have been times when I've wanted to congratulate someone on something or a job well done, and get them a nice bottle of wine, and it's nice to have a helper, in this case the app, fetching it for you."

Guys who can't stand shopping have Trunk Club. It delivers a box full of clothing hand-picked by a stylist. You just send back whatever you don't want.

"You put in some information and then it will hook you up with a stylist that will go out and fetch some clothes for you and put together a literal trunk of stuff," Spoonauer said.

Ladies, for when it's that time of the month no need to go to the store: there's an app called Madame Butterfly.

"It also could be good for guys, too, right?" Spoonauer said. "For guys trying to avoid the embarrassment in the line waiting for some of these services."

And just to prove how apps have changed everything, we interviewed people on the street using the FaceTime app.

One other app worth mentioning is called Washio. The laundry app allows users to schedule a time and pick-up location for their dirty clothes. You guessed it, within 24 hours your clean clothes will be delivered right to your door. Right now that app is only available in Southern California.

Burger chain Five Guys is testing the adage that everything tastes better with bacon. It is rolling out a customizable milkshake program and along with bananas, peanut butter, Oreo cookies, salted caramel, you can chose bacon.  Yes that's right: a bacon milkshake.

Like most soon-to-be third graders, Sonja knows what she's looking for when it comes to back-to-school shopping. For kids trying to be fashionable -- and parents looking to keep it affordable -- there's the Ocean County Hunger Relief Warehouse in Toms River, New Jersey. It's basically a huge thrift shop.
