City of Austin crews covered up a sinkhole Wednesday morning
that formed in an East Austin neighborhood.
At around 8:30 a.m., authorities received a phone call
reporting a sinkhole at the intersection of Mildred and Canterbury streets,
just off Cesar Chavez. Work crews found
the approximately 20-foot deep hole and covered it with steel covers.
The intersection is closed, as well as a block in each
direction around the sinkhole.
City officials are looking into how it could have formed.
