Storm targets New York, New Jersey

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Another snow storm targeted New York City and parts of the tristate region on Tuesday. Snow mixed with rain for the morning commute and switched to all rain in the afternoon.

New York City was forecasted to receive 2-4 inches of snow.

The city issued a snow alert that began at 3 a.m. Tuesday.  The preparation included the sanitation and transportation departments, along with the Office of Emergency Management.

Eastern Long Island was looking at about 1-2 inches of snow.

NJ Transit was cross-honoring tickets across all of its modes of transit all day Tuesday.

Alternate side parking was suspended all week until Feb. 22 in order to help facilitate snow removal and trash pickup.

The good news is that temperatures were expected to rise on Wednesday for several days.  The bad news is that all of that melting snow will have to go somewhere.
