Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Eastwood was a life-saver on Friday.

The 83-year-old Hollywood legend was attending a Pro Golf Association party in Pebble Beach, California when he noticed tournament director Steve John was choking.

“I was eating appetizers and drinking water and I guess they threw a piece of cheese in that was not gonna work down the same pipe as the water and I just choked, I was choking,” Steve said. “Clint could see that I was choking. And he just grabbed my arm, turned me around and performed the Heimlich on me and saved my life."

Eastwood told a local newspaper it was the first time he performed the Heimlich maneuver..

Steve says Eastwood wasted no time and jumped right in to help.
